It turns out the pig is the 12th zodiac, because when the zodiacs decided to throw a party to celebrate the Chinese New Year and the pig was the last to show. There are 2 theories to why the pig was late, the first being:

The pig is lazy! He happened to sleep in (like we all do at times) and showed up after everyone else. (Or he was fashionably late, you decide!)

The second theory being:

So, just like in the fairy tale you might remember the wolf destroyed the house of the pig. The pig rebuilt before coming to the party- what an absolutely responsible fella.

The pig is a symbol of wealth. The characteristics of the pig are they are enthusiastic and bursting with energy. When they have an idea, they come through with that idea. They value life and they enjoy buying things. Having the ability to buy things is what motivates them to be hard working and enthusiastic about their careers. The pig likes to take leadership roles when they can, and they are very passionate about it.
