At DIGS we understand that your living environment can affect your overall University experience. We try and ensure that we provide you with a home from home and enhance your student life as much as possible. Our two main rules are:

Make sure every student at DIGS has a great time

Make sure every student at DIGS feels welcome

The DIGS Experience

All our properties have a common room where social events are held throughout the year. These range from welcome parties, to pizza nights, to study groups. 3/4 of our sites have a gym that is included in your monthly rent. At Storthes Hall Park in Huddersfield we even have an on-site bar and restaurant with a beer garden! We try and cater our event and activities programme to suit everyone’s needs.

We regularly hold mental health, careers and health workshops at DIGS that are FREE for students to attend. We know that living away from home can be daunting and we pride ourselves on making the transition as easy as possible. Additionally, all our sites have CCTV installed to ensure students are as safe and secure as possible.

Twice a year we run a Student Survey that paves the way for future marketing and interaction with our students. Our aim is to be student led and one of the key ways we work towards this is through regular meetings with our Student Reps and Student Wardens to gather feedback. At some sites we even hold Flat Chats where our staff kick back and have a natter with students in the comfort of their flat to see how they’re settling in and what we can do to help. We also celebrate diversity amongst our students with as many as 53 nationalities living at some of our properties.

Being green is important to DIGS and we implement this through the recycling bins on site, our very own water borehole system at Storthes Hall Park, and much more. We also regularly share top tips with our students on how to live a green and clean lifestyle. All our sites have bike storage to encourage people to stay fit by cycling to University and cutting down on car journeys.

All students are invited into a private Facebook group once they book their room which enables them to find their flatmates at an early stage so that they feel comfortable when moving in. This group also acts as a platform to find out about events and news throughout the year.
