Staying in Sheffield over the summer? Well here at DIGS we’ve got you covered and have compiled a list of the biggest and best things happening in Sheffield this summer for you to get stuck in to.

Cliffhanger Outdoor festival

(6 – 8th July)

Sheffield’s inner-city festival dedicated to celebrating the outdoor is back for another year and Cliffhanger’s events and activities will be dotted around the city. For those who are interested in the likes of climbing, running and skateboarding then Cliffhanger is the place for you for sure. Most of the activities are free too, so it’s great who those who are a bit skint but still wish to experience first-hand what Sheffield has to offer.

 

Tramlines

(20-22 July), Hillsborough Park

Stereophonics. Noel Gallagher’s High-Flying Birds. Craig David. Clean Bandit. Plus many many more.

Some of the biggest names in music are descending on Sheffield this July for the city’s ‘biggest party ever’ and you simply have to go. It’s the first time ever that the festival will take place in one venue, with cheap accommodation (10 pound to camp on site or alternatively you could just head back to The Pinnacles for the night) and awesome after parties dotted around the city as well! Not one to miss. Tickets are currently priced at £79.

Sheffield Vegan Festival

(15th September)

The nationwide award-winning Vegan festival rolls in to Sheffield on Saturday 15th September and is worth a visit whether you’re Vegan or not. The festival is taking place in the heart of Sheffield at the Megacentre and tickets are just two pound, very reasonable indeed!

Sheffield Vegan Festival attracts thousands of visitors from around the UK and if you’re amongst them then you will get a chance to browse a fantastic range of clothes, food and drink. Not to mention the talks from influential Vegans from around the globe.

Sensoria Digital Festival

(27th September – 1st October)

As far as student inspiration goes, there’s not many festivals which are more inspiring for students than Sensoria. This is a celebration of all things artistic, a combination of music, film and digital. Sensoria features a plethora of pioneers, innovators and influencers banded together to discuss the latest trends in the media world. They also impart with some of their wisdom too, so not only is the festival fun and exciting with various workshops and live music on offer, it can also be very beneficial and informative. The event takes place across Sheffield and prices differ depending on what events you attend. A lot of the details aren’t set in stone yet, but it takes place from the 27th September to the 1st October, keep your eyes peeled for more information and stay in the loop at http://www.sensoria.org.uk/

Sheffield Doc/Fest

(7-12 June 2019)

So, we know that this years has already taken place, but this festival is simply too awesome to leave out.

Documentary fans rejoice! The internationally acclaimed festival has over time become the UK’s biggest and the world’s third largest, impressive right? A world-renowned festival happening right on your doorstep here in Sheffield.  With venues across the city and all day passes starting from £58 it’s a perfect way to spend the day.

The festival features a bucket load of the newest and most anticipated documentary screenings. There’s a list of guest speakers and a host of swanky after-parties to mingle with your fellow doc lovers. Previous years has seen the likes of Trevor Mcdonald, Louis Theroux and Vicky McClure attend, how exciting! If you’ve missed it this year, then you can’t miss it next year…
