Part of the fun of going to University in the U.K is exploring your new student town or city. Huddersfield is a cheap and student-friendly town with many low cost activities for you and your friends to explore.

We have outlined some cheap things to do in Huddersfield as a student on a budget!

Greenhead Park

Located just a 10 minute walk from The University of Huddersfield, Greenhead Park is a scenic green space with an on-site café, skate park, tennis courts, 2.5k jogging trail and more! It a great spot to chill with friends and have a picnic on a summers day. A funfair also visits the park annually, with lots of old school rides like Waltzers and plenty of food vendors selling authentic seaside doughnuts and other appetisers.

Castle Hill

When in Huddersfield, visiting Castle Hill a must. This historic monument has panoramic views of Huddersfield – there is no better place to watch the world go by. From Storthes Hall Park, Castle Hill is just over an hour walking distance. Visiting the landmark is completely free of charge and it is a great place to explore with friends.

Marsden Moor

If you want to escape to the countryside, Marsden Moor is the place. You can catch a train to Marsden from Huddersfield Train Station, the journey only takes around 15 minutes and costs around £2.60 for a return ticket. Marsden is situated in the heart of the Pennines, a rural space with lots of walking trails and nature. It is incredibly pretty, with Instagram worthy spots along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.

The Venue

The Venue is our on-site bar and kitchen. Interactive quiz nights, live-music and themed club nights are frequently hosted here. It is the ultimate student hub at Storthes Hall Park, freebies are always up for grabs at our social functions and there are regular discounts on drinks and food available. Our student societies, including Dungeons and Dragons and Craft and Coffee Club have made The Venue their home.

Carousel Huddersfield
