One of Huddersfield’s perks as a student is all the food and drink places to choose from. Here are some of my favourite places to eat great food while socialising with friends, going on dates, or going on solo ventures!

The Venue Bar and Kitchen

At the top of my list, it has to be The Venue! Their food is to die for (especially the bao buns). They have an amazing selection of vegetarian and vegan options to choose from. I love to go here after uni for a catch up with friends after a busy week as they host loads of student events like Quiz Nights, themed club nights and more! The Venue is situated at Storthes Hall Park which is super convenient for students residing at DIGS Student Accommodation.

The Bagel Factory

When I’m out and about exploring the shopping scene in Huddersfield, my go-to place for a quick bite to eat is The Bagel Factory in Kingsgate Shopping Centre. It’s situated in the heart of Kingsgate so it is the perfect spot to get a quick tasty snack in-between some retail therapy.

The Parish

If you are a bit more edgy and want a more rock and roll place to eat, The Parish is the place to go. The atmosphere is dark and ambient, with the venue accompanied by good music, and super friendly staff. It is great value for money on a student budget with big portions to choose from.

Revolution

As I started as a student at The University of Huddersfield during the pandemic, Revolution used to be one of the only places I could go with my friends to have a drink, especially during Summer 2021. There are lots of student discounts and benefits if you are a member of sports and social societies at University which come in very handy for students living on a budget. The food is delicious, with a 2 for 1 offer on cocktails (a perk that is well abused).

Slug and Lettuce

Finally, Slug and Lettuce is another great place to eat. Like Revolution with a happy hour on cocktails and an extensive menu of appeal to everyone. I think a lot of people forget how jam-packed Huddersfield is with places to eat, study and socialise.

Even on a budget, the vast options of eateries in Huddersfield make the town a thriving hub for student friendly food!
