Bolton – The Cube
Bolton is one of the UK’s friendliest towns. It is also one of the biggest towns in the country which isn’t a City so it is perfect for those of you who want somewhere a little quieter than a City but still wish to live in a town with character and excitement.
You can have a room in ‘The Cube’ from just £91 per week and it is only a short walk from the train station, bus station and the University. Bolton has excellent railway service and links to all major cities, Manchester and Liverpool are very easily reached. If you want to begin the next chapter of your life surrounded by friendly Boltonians then The Cube is the choice for you.
If you’re partial to a pasty then you will probably have found the ultimate decision maker. Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe is famous for its pasties and has queues outside every day, they truly are that good! It started life as a butchers in 1667 and it’s now a piece of history.
There are plenty of pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants for all tastes and there are always regular student nights and multiple venues to enjoy. The shopping is a wonderful collection of high street brands and independent retailers and four days a week Bolton market comes to life.
Huddersfield – Storthes Hall Park and Ashenhurst Houses
Huddersfield is the 11th largest town in the UK and is situated between Leeds and Manchester. Huddersfield is a great student accommodation location choice if you want a harmonious marriage between the city and country life. There are also two accommodation choices to choose from in Huddersfield. It is a very well connected town with links to the M62 and the M1. The railway is pretty impressive too: Manchester (40 minutes) and Leeds (25 minutes); plus services to Barnsley, Bradford, Sheffield, Halifax. Direct too to Scarborough, York and Liverpool.
Kingsgate Shopping Centre is an excellent choice for some retail therapy after a long week of lectures. There are also two other shopping centres and if you fancy something different you can hop on a train to Meadowhall in Sheffield. Or you could even head to Leeds city centre.
Tuesday and Wednesday nights are particularly cheap for students in Huddersfield and DIGS provides a bus service to and from the town.
London – Ravenscourt
Well, we don’t think London needs an introduction really. London is the capital and is the busiest and most energetic city in the UK. Central London can be reached in 20 minutes from DIGS Ravenscourt. So, for those of you who love to shop and socialise then this might be the deal breaker.
There will always be touristy things which are new to you, regardless of how long you have lived there. It is just so exciting! London has over 170 museums and 11 national museums, wow!
